When I lived in California, the skies got a little dark one warm evening. We were sitting outside with our neighbors who were mostly from the East and West coasts. The warm breeze from one direction turned into a cool breeze from the other. Our neighbors were marveling at the sight, and wanted to gather their things and head inside. They thought the thick clouds meant bad weather was approaching. We said, "Sit down. We'll tell you about bad weather. We told them about greenish skies and eerie stillness and tornado sirens. From our covered balcony at the apartment, we could tell that those dark clouds only meant heavy rain. Nothing else. No "real" thunder and no "real" lightening, just the wimpy kind that accompanies summer showers. Our neighbors were convinced we were nuts. God I miss a good storm!!

i'm not a midwesterner, but i love a good storm. i love falling asleep to rain and thunder. though not a tornado. a tornado went up my street in central PA when i was younger. totally freak thing. it went up the other side, not mine, but we still had to get a new roof. the woods behind the houses was just wiped out and it's been a good 10 or more years and you can still tell. then a tornado hit campus last year while i was in class. not a good time. stay safe!
